Help us make Sheffield Rainbow Laces a fantastic charity event

We are still looking for more teams to sign up to the Sheffield Rainbow Laces 5-a-side tournament on 16 February.  If you’re mad about football do please sign up a team. If you could also share this information as widely as possible that would be great too.   Teams can be made up of work colleagues, friends, family members – wider networks – all genders and all abilities are welcome but you must be over 18 years of age.

We are charging £40 per team so if you had 8 players that’s only £5 each (this includes pizza buffet and after event) and all proceeds go to charity. Sign your team up here

Sheffield Rainbow Laces 2019

Sheffield is quite literally the home of football; Sheffield FC is officially recognised as the oldest existing club now playing association football in the world.

Sheffield Rainbow Laces will be held on Saturday 16 February 2019 to coincide with LGBT+ History Month. The tournament will be 5-a-side and held at GOALS on Norfolk Park road. The whole purpose of this is to raise money for charity, raise awareness of LGBT+ inclusion in sport for fans and for people directly involved in sport who identify as LGBT+. It is also about stamping out LGBT+ Phobia in sport and showing it the red card for good.

We are wanting to make the day feel like an event. This will include a DJ for the whole day, a pizza buffet for all taking part and spectators, private access to the bar, a penalty shootout competition, a raffle and awards ceremony. All players, referees, volunteers and staff at GOALS will be wearing rainbow laces as the symbol of the campaign.

All the money raised will go to SAYiT which is also linked to the Noah Lomax fund. Noah Lomax was a 15 year old who had mental health problems and identified as gay. He was extremely proud of his sexuality and did all he could to campaign for equality. Noah sadly took his own life back in August 2018. The fund has been set up to help continue to support young LGBT+ people with mental health problems.
