‘Technology in Education’ – Student videos

At the end of last year, the White House ran a student film contest for videos on the theme of ‘Technology in Education’. The final selection has just been announced and they are available to watch on YouTube.

The films mainly show how technology is already been used in some (school) classrooms, with some showing how technology might be used in the future. One surprising aspect in these future-looking films was that they were still essentially structured around the teacher standing at the front and delivering information. This may be a result of the judging process and the political motivations behind the contest, but it may also show that students struggle to think of alternative ways of learning to those with which they are most familiar.

All of the films are worth watching, but a couple of stand-outs are:
Posnack Technology: A Day in the Life of Kyle  and  Tomorrow’s Classroom (2014)
