Roundtable discussions on different technologies and different teaching approaches

We are offering a series of ’roundtable’ events (February-April 2014) to provide an opportunity for informal discussion about enhancing teaching through the use of technology, including sessions that focus on the application of specific technologies and sessions that concentrate on adopting different teaching approaches. At each event there will be an opportunity to:

  • discuss a series of questions,
  • reflect on your own, and learn about your colleagues’, practice, and
  • share opinions around a particular approach or use of technology.

Any staff development requirements will also be captured.

Discussions around the application of technology will  focus specifically on Blackboard Collaborate, open badges, electronic voting systems, and using Google apps for collaborative work. While those on the adoption of teaching approaches and the technologies that support them will look at the ‘flipped classroom’, problem-based learning, ‘micro-research’, and reflection.

For further information, descriptions of each discussion, and to book a place, please see the Staff Development page on this blog. Please direct any queries about these roundtable discussions to Stuart Hepplestone (s.j.hepplestone@shu.ac.uk).

As each roundtable event is held at lunchtime, you are welcome to bring lunch and refreshments to the discussion table.
