Blackboard quizzes for formative and diagnostic testing. Learn about the practical benefits and uses of automated testing and feedback in Blackboard. Formative and diagnostic uses will be explored, along with best practice guidance for using each of the different types of test question available in Blackboard and tips on writing effective objective questions and feedback to test a range of cognitive skills. Turnitin for automatic referencing feedback. Learn how you can use Turnitin to generate Originality Reports which can be used to help students and staff ensure that sources included in academic papers have been referenced correctly. The session will be hands on and focus on both understanding Turnitin reports themselves, and how to effectively set up and use Turnitin assignments in your Blackboard site. (Nb. You will be asked to complete a pre-session activity in which you will have the opportunity to submit a piece of writing of your choice which will form the basis for interpreting an actual Originality Report during the session itself. *The session will be delivered virtually via Blackboard Collaborate (a new virtual classroom tool) enabling you to join in and participate from your home or office. In order to use the audio and voice options available during these sessions you will need a headset (or headphones/speakers and a microphone); if you do not have a microphone you can communicate with the participants and moderators using the text-chat option. Further information about getting started with Collaborate is available in the guide for participants. Where you choose to attend a session delivered via Collaborate, a link to the Collaborate session will be emailed to you in advance of the session you sign up to.
