Social Media for Learning in Higher Education Conference 2015 is an international one-day conference hosted by Sheffield Hallam University on Friday, December 18th. The aim of this conference is to develop our understanding of good, sustainable practice by sharing accounts of emerging innovation in the pedagogic use of social media. The conference will present speakers from 37 UK and overseas universities and organisations. Sixty-three papers will address areas such as professional digital identities, challenges and ethics of using social media, and share many examples of practice taking place in higher education.
We believe it is vital that students are represented at this conference. For this reason we have ring-fenced 10 free-of-charge places for SHU students. While we may ask them to write a blog post, or to be interviewed, they will otherwise attend as delegates in their own right. Interested students should complete this online form, telling us why they think we should give them a place. Additionally, if you know of students who would be interested in and benefit from the conference, please make them aware of this opportunity – the form address to share is: http://goo.gl/forms/cJ7N4EHUuP
The deadline to complete this form is 3rd December, 2015. Please note that interested students must be free to attend the whole conference at City Campus on Friday 18th December from 9am to 4pm. Students can expect to hear from us about whether or not you have been successful in your application on Friday, 4th December. If a student does not get a free place but is still keen to attend, or if a course would like to send a representative, there is a reduced student rate of £80.
