Google Apps for education is a free suite of programs provided by Google to support universities, colleges, and schools. They include:
1. Google Mail (Gmail)
2. Google Drive (Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets)
3. Google Sites
4. Google Groups
5. Google Calendar
6. Google Keep
7. Google Forms
Google Apps can be used online from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection. This reduces the need for external hard drives, USB flash drives or the access to a remote desktop.
The Google domain name that we use at the university is my.shu.ac.uk/ student.shu.ac.uk. Students have two email addresses connected to the same mailbox and for some services offered, one or the other may be needed. Your @my.shu.ac.uk email address is simply your firstname.lastname@example.org (e.g. email@example.com). To find out what the @student.shu.ac.uk email address associated with your mailbox is visit shuspace.shu.ac.uk. after you’ve logged in, scroll to the bottom of the page and from the options choose Staff and Student Directory. Alternatively click here to take you there directly. Now, type in your name to see what your @student.shu.ac.uk email address is.
