What is Sway?
Not Powerpoint! If you are using or intend to use Sway solely as a presentation tool, you’re probably using it wrong. Sway is a fresh new tool for easily creating web content. It is more suited to today’s audience than presentations.
Currently you can embed the following content into sway making it a great way to create a portfolio of work with a more dynamic and interactive feel.
- Audio from SoundCloud or Mixcloud
- Documents from OneDrive including Excel Online, Word Online and PowerPoint Online
- Video from Vimeo, Youtube is already inbuilt
- Google Maps
- Image Galleries Flickr
- Animated GIF’s from Giphy
- 3D Models from Sketchfab
- Narrated and annotated presentations from Office Mix
- Infographics from Infogram
- Other Sways
At the time of writing you can post the sway to Facebook or Twitter, share a link to allow others to view the sway, add people who you wish to edit it or embed it in other content (the same way you embed a video for example from YouTube). Sway currently provides three different sharing options that allow access.
Public – Discoverable on the internet, the sway will be included by and be discoverable in search engines. Anyone can access view and share the your Sway.
People with the link – The sway will not be included in search engines so is less discoverable to the public. Anyone who has access to the link will be able to view the Sway without logging in.
Just Me – Only you can access the Sway by logging in to the application.
How do I access Sway and what apps are available?
Currently the only native application that is available is the iPhone application. Alternatively, you can also use the web app that is available on the Sway website.
