What you can get help with and where…

There are a variety of ways you can get help whether you’re at home, on placement, live outside Sheffield, or even upstairs in the library!

What… can you ask us about?

  • borrowing from libraries and your borrower accounts
  • logging in and using SHU IT systems
  • using Microsoft Office software
  • printing, copying and scanning
  • finding and using materials for your assignments
  • referencing
  • using library services and facilities eg booking PCs and group spaces
  • referrals to other and specialist services

Where… you can go to get help!

  • chat – useful at home, on placement, if you live at a distance, or even in the library

Chat for library support (including supporting users of IT systems and equipment in libraries) 24/7/365 – with our staff during daylight hours and university library colleagues in the US overnight

All change!

The print top-up machines at Adsetts Library are being moved to the café area on Level 4 very soon. This will give us more room to manoeuvre around the self-service machines and will make sure the book scanners don’t interfere with each other.

In the future, we’re planning to replace the current machines with newer ones, which will be easier and faster to use.

How to…top up your print account

There are 3 easy ways you can add money to your Papercut print account. My Print Account

  1. Log in to shuspace.  On the My SHU tab, you’ll see a box called Dashboard and a section in that box called My Print Account.  Click on ‘Print top up’, and type in your username and password.  You’ll be able to add money using your credit or debit card.
  2. Top up machinesUse the top-up machines.  We’ve got print top-up machines in both learning centres.  They’re on both floors at Collegiate and on Level 4 opposite the Helpdesk in Adsetts.  You’ll need exact money in coins for the amount you want to top up.
  3. Go to the Helpdesk.  Staff at the learning centre Helpdesks can top up your Papercut account for you.  Pay by card or cash.

Make sure you’ve got enough money on your account before sending work to print.  Photocopying costs the same as printing, but scanning is free.
