Noisy work at Collegiate!

There’ll be some noisy work taking place at Collegiate Campus next week. This is to improve the delivery of services to the campus and the work is taking place during the Summer period to minimise disruption as much possible.

In order to do this we’ll be closing the car park behind Oak Lodge from Monday 10 July.  Pedestrian access may be affected during certain periods however alternative cut throughs across the campus are available in Heart of the Campus.

The car park will reopen on Monday 17 July.

Ecclesall Road resurfacing – night working

We have been informed by AMEY that as part of their Streets Ahead scheme, they will be undertaking Road Resurfacing works along Ecclesall Road from Tuesday, 4 July for approx. 4 weeks (weather permitting)

Whilst the area around Collegiate campus (Collegiate Crescent and Broomgrove Road) is not directly affected and the works is undertaken at night, we anticipate there will be a minimal impact during the scheduled works.

Please note the key points

  • Both lanes of  Ecclesall Road will be open between 6am – 7pm
  • Between 7-10pm – one lane will be closed
  • Between 10pm – 6am – whole road is closed
  • Pedestrian access will still be available even if the roads are closed.
  • Side roads will be open for parking (usual restrictions apply), however there will be no on street parking available during working hours on the particular section of road being re-surfaced.
Anyone requiring access during the road closure would need to speak to the on-site teams and AMEY will endeavour to give access when it is safe and practicable to do so.
As usual, there will be diversion signs in place

Borrowing and returning books at Collegiate library

return unitWe’re trialling a new system of returning books at Collegiate Library – because you’ve been telling us that returning books there isn’t as easy as it could be!

The book units on the Ground Floor in the main room have become  a ‘returns only’ area – previously you could borrow and return books here.

Hopefully this will help to make returning books more straightforward and reduce any confusion!

Top tips

A returns receipt is emailed to you automatically, but if you want to double-check that you’ve returned all your books then choose ‘print receipt’ too, or just log in to My Library Account to see the books you’ve borrowed and returned.

We’ll be monitoring this trial to see how you find it. You can let us know what you think about it here

Where can I borrow books at Collegiate?

  • there’s a borrowing unit (like the one’s above), in the Quiet Study room on the Ground Floor (in the foyer area)
  • the other one is situated upstairs in the main book collection on the First Floor
