Research Induction for Staff

This is an informal induction event hosted by the Research and Innovation Office (RIO) for members of academic and research staff who have recently joined the University or recently returned to research.  We hope to run this event twice per year (the most recent session ran on 4 June 2019)

The aims of the event are for you to:

  • Discover the support and resources available to you from across central University directorates
  • Meet other new colleagues
  • Hear insights from senior academics

The session is made up of four, 20-minute table sessions, hosted by support services from central directorates across the University, with participants able to choose which sessions they would like to attend. This flexible and interactive programme gives you the opportunity to meet colleagues in different central support services, ask questions but also get to meet each other. There will be brief opening and closing talks from senior academics on the Creating Knowledge Implementation Plan and an aspect of being a successful researcher at Hallam.

Upon registering, you will be asked to indicate your preference for four table discussions from the following:

  1.  Professional development for researchers (RIO/HROD)
  2.  Support for Early Career Researchers (Researcher Concordat Group / ECR network)
  3.  Academic Career Framework (Human Resources & Organisational Development)
  4.  Research funding and grant support (RIO – Research Grants and Systems)
  5.  Knowledge exchange (RIO – Knowledge Exchange)
  6.  The Research Excellence Framework and Research Impact (RIO – Policy and Performance)
  7.  Literature, Data and Publishing (Library Research Support)
  8.  Academic Development and Professional Recognition (Learning Enhancement and Academic Development)
  9. Doctoral School
  10. Research Ethics
