Hallam Guild – call for new groups

Dear colleagues,

I’m delighted to announce that, following our second call for Hallam Guild project funding, we are now seeking to further build the Guild by establishing a number of new groups, the purpose of which is to bring together staff and students who share areas of interest in order to build expertise and capacity, share good practice, and contribute to Hallam becoming the World’s Leading Applied University. Our first group – Extended and Foundation degrees – is successfully underway, and we anticipate supporting the establishment of 5-6 new groups this year.

All administration of the groups will be supported by the Hallam Guild and group leads will have a budget of £1500 to develop a ‘themed week’ bringing in national or international speakers around the group’s areas of interest, run a number of special interest sessions, and/or develop new resources. In addition we will be asking the group leads to support the assessment of new Guild funding proposals, and sit on the Hallam Guild steering group. These groups will be a key area of focus on our new Guild website.

We are seeking proposals from all levels of academic and professional services staff, and from students. Groups will be expected to run for a minimum of two academic years and be self-sustaining after this academic year. The application form and more details on the Guild are provided in the links and can be found below.

Deadline for submissions is 5pm, Wednesday 10 October 2018.

Please send completed proposals and/or direct any questions regarding this process to hallamguild@shu.ac.uk.

We are also running a number of drop-in sessions at both City and Collegiate campuses in early October to support the development of draft applications. If you would like to attend one of these sessions please email hallamguild@shu.ac.uk.

I really hope you will consider this seriously and apply. Do encourage colleagues, and especially those who often think these things are ‘not for them’, as we really do want proposals from as wide a range of staff and students as possible.

Looking forward to seeing some great proposals!

Best wishes, Christina

Professor Christina Hughes
Provost
