Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University is contractually and legally responsible for ensuring that all students working with children and vulnerable adults as part of their course of study have been subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure check.<\/p>\n

The University is a Registered Body with the Disclosure and Barring Service and is committed to complying with DBS Codes of Practice.\u00a0 The University policy is that we are unable to accept Enhanced Disclosures issued previously on your behalf so all applicants are required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure through the University process.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

ALL Trainees must be DBS checked prior to enrolment.\u00a0 You will not<\/span> be allowed to enrol on the course unless you have undertaken a check.\u00a0\u00a0 It is Faculty policy not to allow<\/span> you to attend your first placement until your Enhanced\u00a0DBS disclosure has been received and approved for suitability purposes. This could result in the length of your course being extended.\u00a0 This may also have funding implications.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Please also be aware that\u00a0\u201cSalaried\u201d\u00a0 School direct students will have their DBS done at their host school, so they do not need to have their DBS ID check done at Sheffield Hallam University.\u00a0 You must however\u00a0please bring your DBS Certificate to the enrolment event at SHU.\u00a0‘Unsalaried’ School Direct\u00a0students will have their DBS completed at Sheffield Hallam University.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>FAQ: What if I don\u2019t have any documentation to validate the address I entered when completing the DBS application?
\n<\/strong>You must ensure that you are able to provide documentation to prove your current address. We will be unable to process your application if you are unable to supply the approved documentation. It is therefore essential that your address can be validated. Further details of approved documentation as well as any other information can be found on\u00a0our DBS WordPress site<\/span><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n
