We hope you are looking forward to a challenging, dynamic and rewarding professional year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation for the course<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It would be beneficial for you to consider a number of areas prior to joining the course:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Further development of your experiences of Business Education lessons in a secondary environment would be beneficial.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Access to GSCE and Advanced Business Education syllabuses would be beneficial. Include all BE courses in your search including vocational\/applied courses. eg BTEC and Cambridge Nationals.\u00a0 Popular examination boards\/courses for the subject include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aqa.org.uk\/\"><u>www.aqa.org.uk<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/\"><u>www.ocr.org.uk<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edexcel.org.uk\/\"><u>www.edexcel.org.uk<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eduqas.co.uk\/qualifications\/business\/\"><u>www.eduqas.co.uk<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I would not spend a lot of money at the moment on GCSE or A level syllabuses as it would be better to target specific exam boards when you know what you will be teaching on school placement.<\/p>\n<p>Consider current courses against your own BE experiences and reflect on the level of subject content. It has recently changed!<\/p>\n<p>An understanding of the current situation regarding Economic Wellbeing, Work Related Learning (WRL), Careers Advice\/ Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) and Enterprise Education. Have a look at where any Business Education areas are positioned, especially the Citizenship Curriculum for KS3 &amp; 4.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/412291\/Personal_Social_Health_and_Economic__PSHE__Education_12_3.pdf\"><u>www.gov.uk\/government PSHE Education<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/239060\/SECONDARY_national_curriculum_-_Citizenship.pdf\"><u>www.gov.uk\/government Citizenship<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/357597\/Careers_guidance_-_advice_for_schools_Sept_2014.pdf\"><u>www.gov.uk\/government Careers<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An understanding of recent and current Government strategies regarding Business Education specific areas<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.education.gov.uk\/publications\/standard\/publicationDetail\/Page1\/DFE-00031-2011\"><u>www.education.gov.uk\/publications<\/u><\/a> (Wolf report on Vocational education)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/enterprise-for-all-the-relevance-of-enterprise-in-education\"><u>www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/enterprise<\/u><\/a> (report on relevance of Enterprise Education)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/577236\/Getting_ready_for_work.pdf\"><u>www.gov.uk\/Getting_ready_for_work.pdf<\/u><\/a> (report on the provision of Enterprise Education and WRL in secondary schools)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An awareness of the use of technology that can enhance BE teaching and learning. Consider your own ICT\/Computing capabilities.\u00a0 Look also at the Computing curriculum that came into place in Sept 2014<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/national-curriculum-in-england-computing-programmes-of-study\/national-curriculum-in-england-computing-programmes-of-study\"><u>www.gov.uk computing<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As well as the subject based issues above, consider some of the whole school issues highlighted below.
