Jonathan Clement will be our guest speaker for the Department of Management in our Sheffield Management Lecture Series.

 

Jonathan is Head of Commercial Affairs at McLaren and was involved in bringing the new Composites Technology Centre to the Sheffield City Region.

The Sheffield Management Lecture Series returns to Sheffield Hallam University for 2019 and we are delighted to announce Dame Stella Manzie DBE, a recognized public service leader, will be leading the faculty management lecture in the 2019 series.

 

“But we used to be so good…”

Where things go wrong with organisations and how to prevent it.

 

Dame Stella is known for driving improvement in the most challenging political and operational situations and is going to offer her ideas on high-performing organisations in the public and private sector and where it can all go wrong.


Joining Dame Stella will be Councillor Chris Read, Leader of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Chair of the Rotherham Together Partnership along with Dr Helen Phillips, Chair of Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Chair of the Legal Services Board, the oversight regulator for Solicitors, Barristers and other legal professionals in England and Wales; and recently appointed to the newly created sector specific regulator for social workers in England.

The panel session will be facilitated by Professor Kevin Kerrigan, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Dean of Sheffield Business School.

Tim will share his views on a variety of topics from the importance of supply chains, globalisation and digital developments to the skills demanded by DHL of its graduates and the importance of leadership in an organisations good to great journey. The session will include a lecture followed by time for questions and debate.

Tim leads DHL Supply Chains’ Global Life Sciences & Health Care business. With revenues in excess of €1.2bn and operations in 43 Countries, DHL provides innovative and quality assured services to major pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers, drug store groups, medical device manufacturers, health authorities, hospitals, health centres and other healthcare providers.

 

In addition, Tim heads up NHS Supply Chain which provides patient-focused healthcare products and supply chain services to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). NHS Supply Chain’s end-to-end supply chain services incorporate procurement, logistics, e-Commerce and customer and supplier support.

 

Tim’s career in logistics spans more than two decades working in businesses such as Tibbett & Britten Group plc, Exel plc and DHL Supply Chain. Prior to moving to his current role Tim worked in the UK&I business in a variety of Managing Director roles including Transport, Engineering & Manufacturing and Energy & Chemicals.

 

Tim holds a business degree from Sheffield City Polytechnic (now Sheffield Hallam University) and is a Trustee and deputy chair of the DHL UK Foundation, which funds programs helping disadvantaged children and young people achieve their full potential and a Director of the Road Haulage Association.

 

Tim lives in Nottinghamshire and is married to Lynne with two children Joe (a SHU undergraduate) & Lucy. In his spare time Tim enjoys cooking, playing squash and supports Nottingham Forest football club.
