Describe concept of critical reflection
Being Critical
By now you will have some experience of reflecting and of two different models designed to assist you with the process of reflection.
This week you will be considering how to add criticality to your reflection.
Look at this page on critical reflection. Do you think you have been able to be critical so far in your reflections? Have you been able to consider the perspectives of other people, links to theory, links to other experiences, and links to wider social, political and ethical issues? Digging deeper in this way is where models can often helpĀ – by asking us to consider things we would not normally think about.
By sharing your reflections with others (peers, placement educators, lecturers) they may also be able to help you think more critically about your experiences and learning.
This week – return to either of the two models you have encountered so far – or you may have come across another in your reading. Use the model to reflect on an experience and try to pay particular attention to thinking critically. MSc OT students – you can find your instructions here (password protected).
