Christmas Comes to Sheffield
The Christmas holidays are well and truly on the way and there are plenty of festive things to do in Sheffield to fill your days off, especially during “Crimbo Limbo” between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
We’ve pulled together some of the highlights the Steel City has to offer so you can make the most of your time and stave-off those post-Christmas blues.
Sheffield Christmas Markets
From Santa’s Grotto to Hot Chocolate, Fargate and the surrounding areas have had a festive transformation for the Christmas Market. With 80% of the 50 stalls being run by small, independent, local businesses you’re sure to find something special and the sleigh bar is the perfect place to get some post-shopping refreshment. Be quick – the Christmas Markets are only here until Christmas Eve.
Theatre Trips
There are a number of theatres in Sheffield including the Crucible and Lyceum and they offer fantastic performances all year-round. This Christmas the Crucible is showing a lively and fun musical; “Kiss me, Kate” (7th Dec – 12th Jan) and one for the kids; “The Singing Mermaid” (6th Dec – 30th Dec), while the Lyceum is showing a fun-filled panto; “Peter Pan” (7th Dec – 6th Jan). Don’t forget, many productions offer £5 tickets for under 26’s.
The Village Screen’s Enchanted Christmas Weekend
Nothing says Christmas quite like binge-watching festive films. From the 21st to 22nd of December, The Village Green Events Co. will be showing three Christmas classics on the big screen; Die Hard, Home Alone and Love Actually. Tickets are priced at £15, with a £2 discount for students. 16+ only.
