Welcome to the Blog for the Enhance your Mentoring Skills, <\/strong>the only open online course (SHOOC) that has a curriculum mapped to the <\/span>UK National Standards for School-based Initial Teacher\"workstation-30\"<\/a> Training (ITT) Mentors (2016). This blog contains information about the course, including how to enrol<\/a>, about the course team<\/a>, the curriculum and syllabus<\/a>, and how your achievement<\/a> will be recognised. It is also be a space for news and posts<\/a> by people working in and with schools in a mentoring context. \"quote2\"<\/a>Mentoring Practice Enhancement Programme
\n<\/strong>Having evaluated the three runs of the SHOOC in 2017 (see Pountney and Grasmeder, 2018,\u00a0 Building bridges – enhancing mentoring skills, knowledge and practice through an online course<\/a>) we are now seeking partners to develop the resources further.\u00a0 In January 2018 we developed the Mentor training for the national Charted Teacher Programme<\/a> based around the SHOOC materials. In 2018-19 we are partnering independently with two Doncaster providers, Partners in Learning<\/a>, and Yorkshire Three Counties Alliance<\/a>, to develop the materials and to evaluate the impact on teachers’ mentoring practice. In 2019-21 we will be working with Lincolnshire Teaching Schools Alliance<\/a>.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>What form does the SHOOC take?<\/strong> The SHOOC runs online in Pebblepad<\/a>. The tutor team includes school mentor trainers and academics who specialise in teacher education. Participants are given an account and access to all the materials and activities, including Pebblepad workbooks comprising tutor videos, case studies, and active live webinars, forum discussions, social media and e-tivities. Digital badges<\/strong> are awarded for the successful completion of each week’s workbook (about 5 hour’s work each week) and if you achieve all five badges you will receive a Digital Certificate<\/strong> of completion.<\/p>\n
