For 2018\/19 Sheffield Hallam University is upgrading the PCs to use the Windows 10 Operating System.<\/p>\n

Windows 10 is a modern operating system which gives you access to lots of new features and up-to-date software.\u00a0 It looks slightly different from previous Microsoft operating systems but it won’t take you long to get used to it.<\/p>\n

How to Login<\/h3>\n

The Windows 10 login process is very similar to the Windows 7 login process. Enter your username and password and then press the login button.<\/p>\n

How to Sign out<\/h3>\n

The Sign out process is different for Windows 10.<\/p>\n

In order to sign out you will need to:<\/p>\n

  1. Select the user account button (Pic 1) from the Start Menu (Pic 2)<\/li>\n
  2. Select Sign out from the menu that will appear (Pic 3)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Office 365 ProPlus<\/h3>\n

    The Windows 10 Managed Desktop has the very latest version of Microsoft Office<\/a> installed and is updated monthly with new features and security updates. This is the same version of Office that is available for staff and students to download from https:\/\/go.shu.ac.uk\/office365<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    The information here will inform you of recent updates<\/a> that have been applied to the SHU Windows 10 Managed Desktop, information to help you resolve issues and inform you of any issues<\/a> we are aware of and the exciting new features<\/a> that are brought to you with this desktop.<\/p>\n

    Files on Demand sync client<\/h3>\n

    One feature that is new and worth knowing about is ‘Files on Demand<\/a>‘. This is a sync client for your 1Tb OneDrive storage that will connect automatically as part of the login process but unlike traditional sync clients, the only files sync’d are those that you have actually used. This storage is available within Windows Explorer and applications.<\/p>\n

    We will endeavour to keep this information up to date and add new information.<\/p>\n

    Virtual Desktops for staff to evaluate MD10<\/h3>\n

    Staff who wish to evaluate the MD10 Windows desktop can do so from their MD7 Managed Desktop by following these instructions:\u00a0Using the MD10 VDI workstations for evaluation<\/a><\/p>\n
