The Power of Partnerships: a case study of collaboration in Higher Education

This session will be delivered by:

  • Jackie Powell – Partnership Development Manager – SHU

A broad educational partnership in the Sheffield City Region, the Higher Education Progression Partnership (HEPP) is an example of how greater collaboration can enhance the knowledge, networks and outcomes for a wide range of stakeholders. HEPP was established to promote the uptake of higher level qualifications and skills by learners of all ages, to benefit individuals and families, universities and colleges, and contribute to the growth of the city and regional economy. Originating from the two universities in Sheffield, the partnership encompasses Further Education Colleges, local authorities, schools and academies, employers, training providers and charities. This session will describe the rationale for developing a broad alliance and the challenges this presents, focusing on the advantages of collaboration in an environment where competition is the driving force of most participants.
