Although it can be tempting to ‘drift off’ at the end of a busy conference day, we would like to encourage you to join us in Heartspace for our final session at 4pm. This will be an opportunity to reflect on the sessions you have participated in and start to think about areas of your practice that you wish to develop. There will be some group activities to help you consolidate your ideas – remember to bring the notes you have taken in your Calendar Book – and some refreshments to keep the energy levels up.
It is easy to forget that conferences are important CPD opportunities, giving us time and space to reflect on our own practice and get ideas for development. Take some time during the day to think about how the sessions are impacting on your own knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning. Share these thoughts with other colleagues and think about how you can collaborate after today. If you are currently working on your HEA fellowship application, your activities today might support your submission.
The conference blog
We are using the conference blog as a shared space for reflections on the conference experience. All delegates are invited to contribute to the blog both during and after the conference. There is a live Blog Station situated next to the conference desk or, if you prefer, you can write a post in Word (or similar) and email it to SHUCPD@shu.ac.uk. Blogging is an excellent way to get started with writing, to think creatively and also for raising your professional profile. Staff are on hand to give you advice if you need it.
Abstracts for all sessions will be published in online conference proceedings. Delegates will receive details of the links later in the Summer. Some presenters have chosen to write up their work into full papers and these will be included in the proceedings, following full peer-review.
