Learning and Teaching Conference 2016

Educational places, disciplinary spaces
Thursday 23rd June and Friday 24th June 2016
Heartspace, City Campus

Sheffield Hallam University invites you to the Learning and Teaching Conference 2016. This year’s conference focusses on how places and spaces are used for teaching and learning both on and off campus, in physical and virtual environments.  It is an opportunity to engage with some important and fascinating questions relating to how students learn in different contexts and how we support them in their academic studies and professional development. It is also a chance to share good practice, to network with colleagues and to generate new ideas for responding to the changing university environment.

This year’s conference brings together SHU staff, colleagues from our partner institutions, organisations and academic communities for a two day event.  The first day will focus on the partnerships perspective, considering aspects such as transnational education, placement learning, earning and learning, working with employers and the workplace as a location for learning.  Representatives from our industry and education partners will make an important contribution to the first day, bringing a valuable ‘external voice’ to the conversations. The second day focuses on wider aspects of learning, teaching and assessment, exploring how places are transformed into learning spaces on campus, off campus, and in the virtual world through a diverse range of disciplinary lenses. Delegates can choose whether to attend one or both days.

A lively programme of activities will give delegates an opportunity to learn about and experience the ways in which places and spaces are and can be used for teaching and learning.  Take at look at what’s on offer!

‘The Space Tour’ will provide a unique opportunity to experience first-hand learning in a range of different environments.
