Therapeutic Walking Group
Please join us for our walk and talk group and feel the instant benefit of spending time outdoors.
A good walk can do wonders for your wellbeing.
But it’s not just about the occasional one-off feel good factor. Being active has a whole range of benefits:
Health – regular walking can improve your physical health and boost your energy
Emotional and Mental Wellbeing – Research shows that people who are regularly physically active may be happier by improving self-perception and self-esteem, mood, anxiety levels, sleep quality and motivation
Connection – walking groups are a good place to connect, talk and share with others. This can help to reduce isolation and validate your experiences. Groups bring diversity, and by seeing how other people tackle problems you can discover a whole range of strategies and providing support to others can build self-confidence and belief in your abilities to cope with your own problems. Regularly talking and listening to others also helps you put your own struggles into perspective.
The walks are facilitated by Wellbeing Practitioners from the student wellbeing Service.
Time: The Walk and Talk group will start 2.00 p.m. and finish at 3.30 p.m. This will consist of a 30/45 minute walk and then on return drinks/biscuits and time for a reflective activity.
Dress: Come dressed for the weather, and we suggest trainers or walking boots are a good idea.
Dates:
  • 6th March meet at Student Wellbeing Service, Level 1, Surrey Building
  • 20th March meet at Heart of the Campus, Reception, Collegiate Campus
  • 3rd April meet at Student Wellbeing Service, Level 1, Surrey Building
All students are welcome. The sessions are stand alone and you can book on to one or more sessions. The Walk and Talk group can be booked through Unihub.
