The University has a wide variety of teaching rooms, large and small, which connect to informal spaces students and staff use for study, support and socialising. The University’s faculties and directorates, focusing on the idea of ‘Future Learning Spaces’, are working together to steadily develop the space . We are looking at how teaching and learning can be enhanced by improving the spaces, recognising how we experience learning space as we cross between formal and informal spaces and integrate our use of provided and personal technology as we do so.
The Learning Space typology and toolkit
Our collaborative approach, involving academics and central directorates, has been enabled through the development of the Learning Spaces Typology. This toolkit draws together information from the Typology to provide academic and professional services staff with useful information, examples and ideas about how to get the most out of our campuses.
