Whiteboards and/or Glassboards are available in all rooms across the university. In addition to being useful for lecturers to record important information and demonstrate processes such as the steps required to perform a particular calculation, these boards are also a valuable tool for students to record their ideas and discussions when working in groups. The boards can be written on directly, used as a collaborative space to discuss and categorise ideas written on Post-It notes, or a combination of the two.
Whether using Post-It notes or writing directly onto the board, a camera, such as the ones integrated into most smartphones and tablets, is extremely useful for creating a record of the contents of the board. These images can then be readily shared amongst the groups, or collected and made available online through Blackboard for all of the students to access and comment on.
