What is the connection between the physical formal, physical non-formal, digital and social media space we use to learn? This diagram and screencast explain how, from a learner-centred perspective, space is best understood experientially. This has implications for the academic interested in designing learning experiences intended to model good authentic lifelong learning behaviours. It suggests that blended learning strategies designed to incorporate a mix of physical and digital space should look at the advantages, and risks, of creating permeable borders or fuzzy boundaries to the space they and their students use.
In this screencast video, Andrew Middleton offers a way to conceive of space in the digital-social age that reflects learning as it is experienced.
