Two tools have been added to the toolkit to help academics think about their use of learning space. The Radar Design tool sets out different ways of thinking about learning spaces so small groups can prioritise a design discussion through Peer Review & Enhancement or curriculum design and refresh activities.
The second tool is the Learning Spaces design lens. Viewpoints design lenses are common to most of the Teaching Essentials sites. They are structured around key ideas or design principles and offered as a set of cards that can be used in workshops. A series of ideas for adoption are associated with each principle. The Learning Spaces cards are structured around: Communal, Comfortable, Authentic, Collaborative, Functional, Engaging, and Adaptable spaces.
This design lens was created by Sheffield Hallam staff through a series of workshops.
