IS&T Transformation

IS&T has just completed the first phase of a two phase restructure as part of a transformation programme to modernise the way we provide services to the University. Two new senior posts have been created: Leon Etherington was appointed on 18 November to the new post of Strategy and Projects Delivery Director, and a new Service Delivery Director is being recruited. The second phase of the restructure will reshape the directorate on a ‘think, build, run’ operating model and will introduce SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age) job families and assignment-based working. A strategic procurement cost reduction programme is also in progress to address areas of expenditure on hardware, software and supplier-based support services.

To deliver the University’s ambitions, we must be equipped to seize the opportunities and negotiate the challenges of the fast-developing world of IT. Our transformation will give us the flexibility to explore new technologies, innovate and adapt quickly where necessary – addressing skills gaps and building relationships across the University while at the same time maintaining a workforce capable of delivering quality of service.

For more information about the first phase of the restructure and the rationale behind it, you can see the consultation document, the consultation feedback summary and presentation slides used in the IS&T Consultation.
