suface pro 4Sheffield Hallam University has become part of Microsoft’s early adopter’s programme which means  we are among the first customers in the world to preview and use the new Surface pro 4 devices.

Our ambition in IS&T is to support SHU to gain business advantage by becoming a leader in the use of digital technology in teaching and for IS&T to be a beacon of practice in the support of this use. The announcement of the partnership between Microsoft and SHU is a foundation stone in this journey. Inclusion in the early adopter programme will act as a catalyst for a change in speed of adoption of new technology and the capability of the University to support it.

Most immediately we will be altering our approach to infrastructure development to enable flexibility and provide a supported set of services based on Windows 10. Students should start to see the benefits of this approach in Semester 2 this year with full adoption across the University planned for 2016-17.
