We have subscribed to Microsoft Office 365 as a University and from today we are providing Microsoft Office to all staff and students free of charge.

This means you can have the latest version of the full Office productivity suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and more) available for offline and online use. As long as you’re a member of staff here, you’ll be able to use the service on your own equipment. Please do not try to download this on to University PCs or laptops.

This entitles you to:

  • Install Microsoft Office on up to 5 Windows PCs and Macs
  • Unlimited access to the online and mobile app versions of Office
  • 1TB of cloud storage on OneDrive for business – a safe place to store most University files which can be used in line with the University’s cloud storage policy

We hope this will make it easier for you to work using your own equipment at  the University, at home or anywhere else. This service will run alongside our University suite of Google apps which many people currently use.  Students will need to have set their password reset questions to access Office 365.

To get your free copy of office, please visit https://go.shu.ac.uk/office365

If you’re asked to log in, enter your username in the format username@hallam.shu.ac.uk and your normal University password.  Your username is the code you use to log into your University account  – eg if you log in using the code dsmf then input dsmf@hallam.shu.ac.uk.

For help with installing and using Office 365 see the self help guides.
