Update on Yosemite

Following our testing of Yosemite, IS&T recommends that staff do not upgrade to the new Apple Operating System on University-owned Macs.  We have encountered a few issues during our testing  (and there have been many more reported on Mac user forums)  so upgrading does pose a risk of users ending up with a non-working Mac.  Apple is expected to issue fixes and work arounds to resolve the problems with the upgrade and we will continue to work on and test the upgrade process.  We will then consider releasing Yosemite as a beta for staff who wish to trial it.

You can, of course, upgrade your own personal equipment at home to the latest version if you choose to take that risk.  Please bear in mind, though, that it is safer to do a clean installation of Yosemite rather than just upgrading from your current operating system.
