{"id":933,"date":"2017-11-29T12:16:46","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T12:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/hwbstaffnews\/?p=933"},"modified":"2017-11-29T12:16:46","modified_gmt":"2017-11-29T12:16:46","slug":"hwb-learning-enhancement-team-what-is-the-dlhe-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/hwbstaffnews\/2017\/11\/29\/hwb-learning-enhancement-team-what-is-the-dlhe-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"HWB Learning Enhancement Team &#8211; What is the DLHE Survey?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Bridget Winwood, Faculty Learning Enhancement Lead: Employability &amp; Enterprise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Given the critical nature of the current DLHE survey, I thought it may be helpful to provide some information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the DLHE Survey?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey collects information on what all leavers from higher education (HE) programmes are doing six months after qualifying from their HE course.<\/p>\n<p>Owned by HEFCE, materials supplied by HESA who receive the data and compile the reports<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/hwblta\/files\/2017\/10\/DLHE-01.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2476\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/hwblta\/files\/2017\/10\/DLHE-01.png?resize=455%2C521&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"521\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What does it do?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The DLHE data indicates the percentage of full\u2011time learners in employment or further study upon completion of their award.<\/p>\n<p>More critically, it identifies the percentage of leavers in professional\/managerial roles<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/hwblta\/files\/2017\/10\/DLHE-02.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2475 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/hwblta\/files\/2017\/10\/DLHE-02-300x198.png?resize=300%2C198&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HEFCE commissioned annual survey of graduate employment or educational status six months after graduation<\/li>\n<li>Responses collected in two waves<\/li>\n<li>Specified response rates e.g. 80% FT, 70% PT<\/li>\n<li>Coded according to national guidelines to determine outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Current &amp; projected position<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tableau.shu.ac.uk\/views\/DLHEHeadlineReport\/HEADLINE?:embed=y&amp;:showShareOptions=true&amp;:display_count=no&amp;:showVizHome=no#1\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">2015\/16 <strong>93%<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #0066cc\"> in work or further study &amp;<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #0066cc\"> 69%<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #0066cc\"> in professional and managerial roles<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Target for 2017\/18 is <strong>95%<\/strong> in work or further study &amp; <strong>73%<\/strong> in professional\/ managerial roles<\/p>\n<p>Target for 2019\/20 is <strong>97%<\/strong> in work or further study &amp;<strong> 75%<\/strong> in professional\/managerial roles<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sample and survey changes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The sample has changed\n<ul>\n<li>100 more nurses<\/li>\n<li>increased numbers in some areas with good highly skilled outcomes, decreases in others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The survey will change from DLHE to Graduate Outcomes<\/li>\n<li>15 month census point in 2019<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maintaining student contact<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This survey\u2019s results will be used for an <strong>extended period<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Collection will be outsourced \u2013 previous results indicate the difference this means to responses (e.g. Nursing &amp; Midwifery 11\/12 = 51% v 92% in 15\/16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>So<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The DLHE and subsequent Graduate Outcomes (GO) surveys are <strong>everybody\u2019s <\/strong>business<\/li>\n<li>They are <strong>critical<\/strong> to SHU\u2019s standing and reputation<\/li>\n<li>We <strong>all<\/strong> have a contribution to make<\/li>\n<li>5% of 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> party responses are currently permissible (details of the operation of the GO\u00a0survey are still to be decided)<\/li>\n<li>Please record the first destination of your finalists to enable 3rd party responses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For further information on how you can help please see:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/staff.shu.ac.uk\/steer\/careers\/DLHE.asp\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">https:\/\/staff.shu.ac.uk\/steer\/careers\/DLHE.asp<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bridget Winwood, Faculty Learning Enhancement Lead: Employability &amp; Enterprise Given the critical nature of the current DLHE survey, I thought it may be helpful to provide some information.
