Graduation<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Graduation Ceremonies have come to an end and have once again been a great success.\u00a0 Over the course of the five faculty ceremonies, we graduated approximately 1800 students and I had the great pleasure of personally congratulating each one. \u00a0Our inspirational teachers were also recognised at the ceremonies.<\/p>\n

The Faculty\u2019s Graduation and Prize Ceremonies are held over just three days.\u00a0 Behind the scenes the process of planning these events takes all year. \u00a0The Faculty Operations Team co-ordinate the organisation of the ceremonies for Health and Wellbeing, with support from the Central Graduation Team. This starts in January when the ceremonies from the previous year are reviewed. From February through to October the team works on agreeing ceremony schedules, liaising with key external stakeholders, students, sponsors and honorary professors, organising gowns, producing certificates, preparing prizes and drafting in volunteers from teams across the Faculty to ensure that the ceremonies are supported on the day. \u00a0It is a huge amount of work.<\/p>\n

There are a number of different roles that require the support and involvement of our staff, from Public Orator to Academic or General Stewards. Without our staff volunteers the success of the event would not be possible.<\/p>\n

I would like to thank everyone that attended the ceremonies, all of those involved in supporting the event on the day and a big thank you to the Faculty Operations Team who plan and organise these important events.<\/p>\n

RWB Annex Update<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

David Boden sent an update to all staff on Friday.\u00a0 In brief, the ground works are complete and the steel frames are in place and ready to receive the building modules. They\u2019ll be delivered over the next 2 weeks and lifted into position.<\/p>\n

Restricted parking signs have gone up on the Broomhall Road lamp posts so that the modules can be delivered. Parking will be suspended on the road between Collegiate Crescent and RWB from Monday 27th<\/sup> November<\/strong> to<\/strong> Friday 8th<\/sup> December<\/strong> inclusive. As well as the signage, traffic cones will mark no parking areas.\u00a0 Woodville and RWB car parks will remain open but access to RWB will be from Victoria Road only. \u00a0Woodville car park can be used for those who use the nursery for drop off \u00a0and pick up of children.<\/p>\n

I apologise for the inconvenience this is going to cause, but I\u2019m sure you will appreciate the difficulty in delivering these large units and the room needed for the crane to lift and place them.<\/p>\n

Professorial Appointments and the next round of Readership and Professorial Applications<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

I am very pleased to inform you that Dr Markos Klonizakis and Dr Neil Cross have been awarded a Readership.<\/p>\n

Professor Julie Nightingale joined the Faculty as Professor of Diagnostic Imaging Education in the Department of Allied Health Professions on 22nd<\/sup> November.<\/p>\n

I am sure you will all join me in congratulating our colleagues on these very deserved appointments and also in welcoming Julie to the Faculty.<\/p>\n
