The National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine in Sheffield has appointed a new programme manager.<\/p>\n

Dr Anna Lowe<\/strong>, a chartered physiotherapist with a special interest in physical activity and healthy ageing, has been appointed programme manager for the Centre.<\/p>\n

Anna will be based at Sheffield Hallam University\u2019s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC). Anna will work alongside current NCSEM and AWRC director, Professor Robert Copeland<\/strong>, and the rest of the NCSEM partners to shape the next phase of the Olympic Legacy programme.<\/p>\n

Anna is well placed to drive forward culture change and tackle inactivity across the health and care system having worked in the NHS for many years as a physiotherapist. Anna developed her interest in physical activity through her doctoral study and secondments with Public Health England.\u00a0 More recently, Anna has worked with NHS England in the National Cancer Programme team and she is also lead allied health physical activity clinical champion for Public Health England.<\/p>\n

Anna said \u201cI am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine-Sheffield as programme manager.\u00a0 It is a great opportunity to use my experience in education, clinical practice, research and leadership to drive forward the ambitious plans to make Sheffield the most active city in the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Professor Copeland said \u201cAnna is a superb addition to the NCSEM team here in Sheffield. Her leadership, understanding of system issues at a local and national level and her clinical insight and research background will be of real value as we work towards transforming Sheffield into the most active city in the UK.
