Learning Disability Week, MENCAP (18 – 24 June) will be all about health – with a big focus on the ‘Treat me well’ campaign.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sheffield Hallam University are continuing to champion the needs of people with a Learning Disability. As part of Learning Disability Awareness week we welcome you to increase your awareness of health inequalities and the complexities in accessing services frequently faced by people with a Learning Disability.<\/p>\n

Please join us in the Heart of Campus on Monday 18th June 2018<\/strong>, where you can engage in thought provoking discussions with qualified Learning Disability Practitioners and be introduced to documentation which can support a person with a Learning Disability whilst accessing services. Simple changes in hospital care can make a big difference \u2013 better communication<\/strong>, more time<\/strong> and clearer information<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But we know the treatment people with a learning disability get in hospital is still not good enough in many parts of the country.\u00a0This has to<\/strong> change.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What we want to do <\/strong><\/h2>\n

We want to use Learning Disability Week 2018 to spread the word about the problems people with a learning disability can face in getting good healthcare in hospital, and how we can change this.<\/p>\n

We want to involve NHS staff in the Treat me well campaign – giving them the chance to hear from people with a learning disability and to think about the simple changes they can make which would make a big difference to people with a learning disability.<\/p>\n

We want to give people with a learning disability and NHS staff the chance to celebrate and share good practice, and to work together to improve care that isn’t good enough.<\/p>\n
