WHO is calling on world leaders to live up to the pledges they made when they agreed the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, and commit to concrete steps to advance <strong>#HealthForAll<\/strong>. These include;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ba0046\"><a style=\"color: #ba0046\" href=\"https:\/\/oramma.eu\/the-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ORAMMA<\/a><\/span> (Operational Refugee And Migrant Maternal Approach)<\/strong> which is an EU funded collaborative project with Greece, The Netherlands and several other EU partners.\u00a0 The project aims\u00a0to develop an operational and strategic approach in order to promote safe motherhood and to improve access to enhance the quality of maternal care for refugee and migrant women within Europe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SHU hosted WHO&#8217;s consultation on new guidelines around female genital mutilation (FGM).\u00a0 <\/strong>Academics from HWB, together with 39 representatives from 14 countries met to discuss the\u00a0WHO guidelines on the management of health complications from FGM during a two-day conference on the 16th March 2017. (You can read more\u00a0about last year\u2019s conference on the blog\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ba0046\"><a style=\"color: #ba0046\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/hwbstaffnews\/2017\/03\/23\/april-feature-sheffield-hallam-university-welcomed-some-of-europes-top-healthcare-experts-to-host-world-health-organisations-who-consultation-on-new-guidelines-around-female-genital-mutilation\/\">here<\/a><\/span>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Professor Soltani advises; &#8216;It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of women and girls living in Europe have been exposed to and\/or are at risk of female genital mutilation. FGM has been a totally unknown phenomenon for health care professionals in Europe, and in Eastern Europe in particular. Recently published information confirms that hundreds of girls have been forced to undergo FGM.\u00a0 Urgent attention is therefore needed to alleviate this harmful practice across the globe and ensure all relevant health care professionals are aware of risks and management strategies for women who have suffered FGM.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the World Health Day campaign WHO will be communicating via various social media channels:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ba0046\"><a style=\"color: #ba0046\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WHO\/\">Facebook<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ba0046\"><a style=\"color: #ba0046\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/who\">Twitter<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ba0046\"><a style=\"color: #ba0046\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/who\">YouTube<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ba0046\"><a style=\"color: #ba0046\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/who\/?hl=en\">Instagram<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The primary hashtag is <strong>#HealthForAll<\/strong> but look out for posts using <strong>#WorldHealthDay<\/strong> as well.
