Coaching Skills for Managers

 Aim
This is a practical session that aims to enable line managers to realise the benefits of coaching their team members to make a positive impact on both the student and staff experience. It will introduce you to coaching techniques and principles and provide the opportunity to put these newly learned skills into practice.

Objectives

  • To describe and explore key coaching principles and techniques
  • To develop your personal coaching style
  • To practise coaching / being coached, using work- related scenarios
  • To identify the types of challenges faced by people you manage/guide that can be addressed through coaching
  • To apply coaching to build team members’ confidence and personal development as well as their ability to take personal responsibility

Target Audience: Staff that have either direct, or non-direct line management responsibilities (e.g. staff that support and guide teams).
