The University is now a member of the Whitehall Industry Group (WIG). WIG is a not-for-profit, membership organisation with a charitable purpose of improving understanding and co-operation between the public, private and voluntary sectors. Members from across the sectors have access to a range of opportunities to share expertise, develop talent, broaden networks and input into policy development. Opportunities include:
- 140 free Events a year including briefings from Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executives, policy and political briefings and networks for HR and Talent, Diversity & Inclusion, Early career, Lawyers, Public procurement, Communications Directors, Sustainability practitioners and many more.
- Talent service which offers a range of bespoke opportunities to help members share skills, knowledge and expertise with other sectors. Their services include Non Executive/ Charity Trustee opportunities, work experience and secondments to other sectors and mentoring.
- Cross-sector Leadership Programmes for leaders at all levels from the public, private and voluntary sectors including senior leaders, talented senior women, those aspiring to be senior leaders and graduates/ high potentials. WIG also offers one day development seminars on a range of soft skills including group dynamics, networking skills, personal impact and presence, resilience etc.
- Organisational Raids leadership team development opportunities where you learn from another organisation how they tackle a workplace issue, explore how your approach differs and assess what your team could apply back home.
