Language Makers

Purpose of the proposed group
To increase the understanding of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and its implications, in both childhood and Higher Education students. Awareness of DLD needs to be strengthened within the community, and stronger links need to be forged between academics, specialist practitioners and families of children with DLD.

Objectives of the proposed group
Specifically, the group will have three main objectives:

  • To design and put in practice actions aimed at raising the awareness of DLD in the communities of Sheffield and other areas, creating materials accessible for parents and educators, as well as running workshops, seminars and discussion groups
  • To design and run a research study aimed at exploring the effects of DLD on Higher Education students
  • To design and put in practice an experimental research study aimed at examining the impact DLD interventions have in the development of the acquisition and production of different subject pronouns (i.e. I, you, he, she, it, we and they).
