Purpose of the proposed group

  • Bring enthusiasts together: create collaborations to support educational research and evaluation projects
  • Connect the university with the national and international distance learning pedagogy community
  • Contribute to the work stream of the shaping future board to develop a shared pedagogy, practice and institutional governance that could drive the development of a distinct ‘Hallam’ Distance Learning offer
  • Consider how DL can enable under-represented learners to access study, contributing to the educational health of the region: creating pilots, expanding taught face to face provision to also offer DL
  • Objectives of the proposed group

  • Support the development of the work stream as part of the strategy from shaping futures.
  • Using continuous improvement methodologies, take a system-wide approach to shape an effective DL infrastructure
  • Influence and shape DL pedagogy principles
  • Influence and shape a validation approaches for DL
  • Celebrate, create a focus for and champion innovative teaching and learning approaches across the university
  • Improve student satisfaction metrics regarding teaching quality for DL courses
