Pam is a principal lecturer and employability lead in the department of Education, Childhood and Inclusion. In her employability lead role, she has responsibility for coordinating employability enhancement activity across the department. Pam chairs a monthly employability forum where student support personnel, employability advisors, representatives from DEEP and the Student Union, and academics meet to develop the department's approach to employability and to share examples of effective practice. The forum has lead on a number of developments, the most recent being to produce an employability guide for all FTUG students in the department. Currently, the forum is working on strategies to connect students with employers and on embedding employability in the curriculum.
Nichola CadetEmployability Lead - Law & Criminology0114 225 2201Untitled-1
Nichola is placement co-ordinator for Criminology programmes, fostering strong networks with local statutory and voluntary sector organisations with a focus on social justice. Employability is embedded throughout the programme, with first year students actively engaged with a project facilitated by the Venture Matrix. This entails working to a brief with South Yorkshire Police to deliver sessions to secondary school aged children around contemporary crime issues. At levels 5 and 6, there are two placement opportunities available; 60 credits at level 5 and 20 credits at level 6. Nichola teaches on two innovative simulation modules, which formed part of the HEA/British Criminology Society teaching team of the year award. This approach to Enquiry Based Learning sees students immersed in simulated learning environments delivered by practitioner experts, supported by staff within the department who come from a practice background.
