Pam Dewis shared her work with the October Applied Learning SIG; that she’s been developing in her role as the Employability Lead in the Department for Education, Childhood and Inclusion in D & S. Working with Linda Wilson (D&S employability consultant) and the department’s employability forum members, the focus of this work was to develop an employability guide for full time undergraduate students for use from induction and throughout their course. The guide is intended to assist students in recognising the significance of their day to day learning, working, curricular and extracurricular activities to their career aspirations – from day one! Pam’s employability advisor colleagues, Helen Fauset and Jill Valentine have adapted the guide to support their current third year students in their ‘outduction’. Through a series of self-assessment tools, both guides help students reflect on their experience to date, as well as exploring the next steps they need to take. If, you’d like a copy of either of the guides, please contact c.e.myers@shu.ac.uk
