(Compulsory)<\/h3>\n<p>Cultural Intelligence, or CQ, measures your capability to relate and work effectively in culturally diverse situations. Your CQ predicts your readiness for working and relating effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds. The higher your CQ, the more likely you will gain new opportunities, earn higher wages, and experience success working in today\u2019s diverse, globalised world. We will also discuss why all humans should have dignity and safety beyond borders.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by: Helen Paskins, adviser for students from refugee backgrounds at Sheffield Hallam, (MA Applied Human Rights)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>The Global History and Politics of the US\u2013Mexico Border<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This lecture explores the US\u2013Mexico border not just as a geographical line, but as a global political actor. From its establishment in the aftermath of empire and war, to its complex role during slavery and its connection to the Nazis, this lecture traces the border&#8217;s entanglements in revolution, anarchist networks, the Vietnam War, and Asian politics. In this lecture, we will see the US-Mexico border as a crucial site in world history and international politics.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Intercultural project (complete one)<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/current-students\/goglobal\/going-global-on-campus\/culture-connect\">Culture Connect<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0<del>The practical intercultural project will involve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/current-students\/goglobal\/going-global-on-campus\/culture-connect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">becoming a Culture Connect mentor<\/a> to new international students.
