Students, particularly Indian students, at a number of UK universities have received calls from individuals who claim they work for the UK Border Agency, giving a false name and a return phone number.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #333333\">These calls are not from the UK Border Agency. The caller may appear to be genuine and convincing and explain that there is a serious problem with your immigration status, and that you need to send a payment as soon as possible to prevent further action including deportation. They may also ask you for details of your visa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #333333\">If you believe that you received a suspicious call or e-m<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2578 size-medium\" style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/internationalstudentsbulletin\/files\/2013\/04\/untitled.png11-300x199.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/>ail, or come across a suspicious website:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"color: #333333\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\"><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;color: inherit\">Do not<\/strong>\u00a0give out any personal information, or confirm that any personal information they have is correct<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\"><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;color: inherit\">Do not<\/strong>\u00a0make any payment<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\"><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;color: inherit\">Do<\/strong>\u00a0report the matter online to\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: #1b8be0\" href=\"http:\/\/www.actionfraud.police.uk\/\">action fraud<\/a>\u00a0(<a style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: #1b8be0\" href=\"http:\/\/www.actionfraud.police.uk\/\">www.actionfraud.police.uk<\/a>) or by calling Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\"><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;color: inherit\">Report<\/strong>\u00a0the incident to the\u00a0<strong style=\"font-style: inherit;color: inherit\"><a style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: #1b8be0\" href=\"mailto:internationalsupport@shu.ac.uk\">International Student Support team<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We would like to make you aware that the following scam is still continuing in the UK.
