{"id":3309,"date":"2016-07-29T10:32:42","date_gmt":"2016-07-29T10:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/global\/?p=3309"},"modified":"2016-08-03T11:54:41","modified_gmt":"2016-08-03T11:54:41","slug":"suzhou-college-visits-shu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/global\/suzhou-college-visits-shu\/","title":{"rendered":"Suzhou College visits SHU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Department of Nursing and Midwifery<\/strong> and the <strong>Department of Allied Health Professionals<\/strong> hosted a two week visit of 11 students and five academics from <strong>Suzhou Health College, China<\/strong>. The students are currently undertaking a diploma in either nursing or rehabilitation studies at <strong>Suzhou Health College<\/strong> and are hoping to come to <strong>SHU<\/strong> in <strong>September 2018<\/strong> to undertake a <strong>BSc (Hons) Health Studies<\/strong> in either nursing or rehabilitation. The visit provided the students with the opportunity to experience British culture, to experience Sheffield and SHU and also to experience different approaches to teaching. The students also delivered presentations on what they love about Sheffield.<\/p>\n<p>The academics were also interested in observing different approaches to teaching but also to explore the differences and similarities between China and the UK\u2019s healthcare provision. They had the opportunity to visit the <strong>Hallamshire<\/strong> and <strong>Rotherham<\/strong> hospitals, observe multidisciplinary team meetings and to visit a community centre.<\/p>\n<p>This visit helped the students and staff from both sides to explore different ways of working, as well as for SHU staff to show our delegates from China what makes Sheffield so great!
