The core functionality of e5 will remain largely the same although we are looking at opportunities to implement ‘quick wins’.  Our focus initially was on reviewing previously submitted development requests, however due to our current remote working environment the focus is now on processes that cannot currently be delivered offsite e.g. printing of tuition fee invoices.

The upgrade will also move us to a hosted service (servers are hosted by Advanced, not SHU) and we are hoping that will mean that e5 will be available for longer than the current 12 hour weekday window.

My Workplace

My Workplace is a new web based dashboard that will take you into e5.  It has a configurable homepage with quick links to systems and help/guidance.  Configuration of the dashboard is still to be agreed but initial thoughts include links to e5 back office, e5 portal, finance intranet, user guides and video tutorials.

On the ‘favourites’ page you are able to configure your own quick links e.g. to specific screens within e5 or other web based favourites.

e5h5

e5h5 is a web based version of e5 which has an updated modern look and feel.  The screen is made up of three panels:

• Left panel – navigation menu (1st screenshot below)
• Middle panel – main e5 screens (both screenshots)
• Right panel – warning messages (currently appear at the bottom of the screen) and quick links to recently visited screens as well as the option for you to add your own quick links and effectively build your own custom menu (2nd screenshot below)

The new ‘fast prompt‘ functionality allows you to search for information, faster e.g. if searching for a supplier a list of suppliers will be displayed with a search field.  As you type into the search field the list of suppliers will get shorter based on the amount of information typed into the box.

There is now an option to undock a session which allows you to drag the session across to another monitor.

e5 Purchasing and Authorisation Portal

The Portal has been given an updated look and feel with a black, orange and white theme to match Advanced’s branding; and the navigation menu has been moved from the top of the screen to the left hand side.

Functionality remains the same.

Air Approvals

Air Approvals is a mobile app that will allow authorisers to authorise purchase order requisitions on the go, without having to log in to the e5 Portal.

e5 Reporting Services

e5 Reporting Services is an integrated reporting module that enables you to query and report on data from within the e5 application.  A dashboard of reports can be created which you can drill down into to interrogate the data further.  This will hopefully replace a lot of the existing Access reports.

Business Process Manager

Business Process Manager (BPM) captures information through structured customised web forms that can be routed for review and authorisation through BPM, eventually leading to the information being imported directly into e5.

Tasks can be reviewed and approved in the new task manager section of My Workplace.
