Hallam Sessions
As part of the ‘Building a Great University’ pillar board the University has a desire to create an outstanding environment in which to study, research and work, and as such are aiming to do this by developing the Hallam Deal.
The university has scheduled a series of open sessions which you are invited to get involved with. These sessions will cover the University’s Wellbeing Programme – ‘Healthy Hallam, Healthy Future’ as well as gaining your views and ideas of how we can progress the wellbeing agenda together as part of the Hallam Deal.
Open sessions will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday 12 February, 10.00 – 11.30am, Room 12.5.08, City Campus
- Wednesday 20 February, 9.30 – 11.00am, Room N101, Collegiate Campus
- Thursday 21 February, 13.00 – 15.00pm, Room 15104, City Campus

Temporary naming conventions for new buildings
Until now, the University has used a variety of ways to refer to new buildings as they are being developed, which can sometimes cause confusion. These have included numbers, letters and departmental names. For clarity, the University will, from now on, be giving consistent working titles to identify new buildings in advance of final names being determined prior to opening. To reflect the historical significance of the site, celebrate Sheffield’s industrial heritage as a city of makers and reflect our significance as an applied University, these will use the names of job roles from the industrial sector that occupied the City’s cultural industries quarter.
Building Working Names which will be used from now
- Forgers (future home for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities) – previously known as Block A
- Chandlers (likely shared facility) – previously known as Block B
- Cutlers (likely shared facility) – previously known as Block C
- Mesters (future home for the Sheffield Business School) – previously known as block D
These buildings will be located on the site of the Science Park – see The Campus Plan for a reminder.
