Sickness Absence Clinics
Purpose
- To support managers with sickness absence in their teams, HR are organising Sickness Clinics. These will offer 121 support to managers with HR, with dedicated time to discuss and advise on sickness cases.
- Managers can discuss progress of cases and any concerns they may have.
- Following the initial advice, the HR Advisor & Manager agree an action plan and next steps, which may be to sign post to HR for further support or allocate the case to a fellow HR Advisor.
Who are they for?
- Managers of staff who have hit the University sickness triggers (10 working days or 4 periods) or who have any pattern of absence which is of concern.
- Managers who would appreciate a discussion and advice/ support regarding a member of staff who is off sick or has short or long term sickness issues
Please note: Managers who are already receiving support from a HR Advisor on their sickness absence case should continue to contact their allocated HR Advisor for on-going support.
How will these clinics work?
- A variety of dates and venues are available for managers to book onto. The appointments are for 15 minute slots, providing 10 minutes to discuss the case and 5 minutes to review and agree an action plan. If you have more than one case to discuss you can book consecutive appointments.
- Prior to the appointments, managers need to provide details of the cases they wish to discuss, this is to ensure good use of time and appropriate advice. Emails requesting this information will be sent out – please ensure you complete this.
- At the sickness clinics managers will receive 121 support and advice from a HR Advisor
- After the sickness clinics, managers will be provided with a summary of the details and actions agreed.
