University Calendar Competition

This year the University is running its annual calendar competition. This is an opportunity for you to get your photo in print as this year as we will be not be running the traditional calendar competition as it has been in previous years.

The photos can relate to Sheffield, Yorkshire, the University or nature of the region, so it could be a landscape or sunset for example.

Twelve photos will be chosen for each month with the overall winner featured on the front cover!

Reception Desks Closing for Refurbishment

If you are having visitors to the business between now and the 14th December this one is for you. The reception desks at Adsets Library and the Main Reception in Owen will be closed for refurbishment.

Both desks will reopen as Hallam Help Points in January 2019, as part of the new Hallam Help service. Alternative desks will be available in both locations, with Owen reception staff relocating to the Owen student helpdesk and a temporary helpdesk being created in Adsetts. Signage will point students, staff and visitors to the alternative arrangements.

SHU cards will be issued from 38/40 Howard street during the refurbishment works and security will continue to patrol the Owen reception area. x4444 remains the number to contact FD customer services and switchboard is available by dialling 0.

Movember 

This year we are taking part in Movember, we have 10 men from across the directorate taking part in the quest to grow some mighty facial hair or a hilarious soup strainer. They’ve already raised over £85 and its only the 7th November, you can donate here or sign yourself up to become one of Mousta-SHU

Equality Essentials Unconscious Bias Reminder

SHU Wellness is a free health and lifestyle service which us run by SHU staff for SHU staff.

Health Assure Wellbeing App

Hallam staff now have access to Health Assure’s wellbeing app.

Health Assure’s health e-hub app is easy to use and offers users instant help for a wide range of issues, including:

  • Physical and mental health support.
  • Financial wellbeing tips.
  • Extensive library of videos, webinars, planners and more at the tap of a button.
  • Quick access to online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
  • Self-improvement methods such as becoming more assertive, less angry or more mindful.
  • Lifestyle guidance for family matters, relationships, neighbour disputes and legal problems.

The app is an useful tool we can all use to look after our own wellbeing a bit better.
