The Friday Feeling 11/05/18

Staff briefing sessions

There are a number of staff briefing sessions taking place over the next few weeks:

Overview of the new Performance and Development Review – The process has changed quite a bit so I’d really recommend going along to one of the briefing sessions.  Alternatively you can read all about it on the toolkit.

SHU Professional Services Career and Development Offer – find out more about the plans for career conversations, career pathways, talent management, development moves and agile resourcing.  BOOK HERE.

Institutional & Leadership strand of PSOM – there’s a briefing open to all staff next Friday to give an update on the Institutional & Leadership strand of PSOM.  The session is intended for staff who have not been involved in this project to date. Spaces are limited and need to be PRE-BOOKED HERE.

SHU awarded bronze level award by Athena Swan

Well done to the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team, who along with a number of colleagues from across the University put a lot of hard work and effort in to once again securing this award for SHU.

Athena SWAN is a gender equality charter awarded by Advance HE and these accolades recognise that as an institution we have a solid foundation for eliminating gender bias and developing an inclusive culture that values all staff and students.  Read more here.

Mental Health Awareness Week – 14-20 May

This year the focus is on looking at one of the big drivers behind the rise of mental ill health, Stress.

The University Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee have recently reviewed and approved the policy on Stress at Work. The policy includes a new stress risk assessment form and reinforces the need to proactively manage the potential causes of stress in the workplace. The launch of this policy will be supported by a new Managing Stress in the Workplace course for managers which can be booked on CORE.  Mindfulness sessions can also be booked on Core.

For more information, please visit the staff wellbeing site which contains information regarding on-going support that is available at the university all year round.
