2018 is well and truly underway and I’m sure most of us will have long forgotten our New Year’s Resolutions made with such determination just a few weeks ago.
The first Green Champions Newsletter of 2018 contains lots of interesting items including forewarning of the coming Travel to Work Survey for 2018. Previous surveys have highlighted the fact that we all like a bargain here at SHU so you may be interested in reading about a new deal that’s been negotiated around rail travel for SHU staff.
Our “Think, Act, Save” campaign is concentrating on lighting for the next few weeks. Beware of audit fairies who may be prowling around the office checking for any lights that have been left on needlessly.
If you’ve noticed lots of yellow bikes whisking through the city centre streets recently and wondered what it’s all about, read about how you can take one for a spin and how much it will cost you. It might inspire you to take advantage of the “Cycle to Work” scheme and get on your bicycles for the commute to work, although the seven hills of Sheffield make that a very unattractive challenge for all but the most committed of us.
Finally you will find a link to the latest Annual Environment Report for 2016-17 which isn’t as dry as you might imagine. It’s a simple update of the university’s sustainable achievements over the last twelve months and how much progress we’ve made against reduction targets that have been set to be met by the year 2020/21. Definitely well worth a look.
You will find this month’s newsletter here.
